I do not ask how long the DVD will last but how long will it take for the DVD to follow the way of VHS?

Yes, we have time. The resolution of the DVD is excellent, and are doing really cheap. Already there are tons of movies on DVD. All new DVD player as part of their package, so I think we could really take another 10 years. Since they are digital, you can always copies and copies of them in the future BluRay / VD / HD-DVD / etc

Probably when CD change its format. Anything you can on a CD, you probably correspond to a DVD of the same size. The technology is impressive, right?
